Proud sister and aunt!

I’m very proud of my brother who graduated from police academy and became a father on the same day, congratulations Henrik! 

You can see Blå Jungfrun an itty bitty island in the background of the picture, sorry to say I have never been out the island and I grow up in the area.

My brother and his family live in Sweden so we have not yet met the little miracle except for seeing pictures, hopefully can we go home to Sweden on holiday next summer if everything goes as planned.

My adorable nice Nike, she just turned seven weeks old last Friday!!

I can’t think of anything more inviting than a summer porch. Starting your day with a cup of tea in a favorite antique tea cup or watching a sunset from a vintage wicker rocker, filled with plump cushions, inspired by days gone by.

A summer porch can be a place of solace, when you need a moment to unwind, or a place of shelter during a warm summer rain.
A welcoming porch creates a friendly entryway to your home. And with the right accessories, can become an extension of your home.
Our summer porch was always filled with pots and planters of brightly colored geraniums. It didn’t feel like summer without these welcoming blooms.
For entertaining guests, vintage chairs, painted in blues and whites, no two alike, made comfortable with pretty floral pillows propped against their backs.  An ornate table, painted white and adorned with layers of beautiful white linens. A welcoming site for all that come to visit.
For cozy evenings, cut glass cups, glow with the soft flicker of a candle within. An old mason jar, one saved from grandmother’s canning cellar, is filled with fresh cut daisies. A quilting project, tucked into a favorite basket, ready to be worked on at a moments notice.
As you relax and sip your iced tea, your eyes follow the simple, uncluttered decor of of your summer porch. The vintage lace curtains, stirring in the warm evening breeze, the gingerbread window boxes, filled with summer blooms, and just beyond the porch, a whimsical pink bicycle, it’s basket filled with blooms in shades of pink. You sigh with contentment as you welcome another summer evening.

Happy Midsummer!!

 We had a yummy midsummer eve dinner, matjessill (pickled herring) and ice cold nubbe (vodka) with family and friends visiting from Sweden.

We are heading to Hollywood tomorrow to do some sightseeing...

I’m an Auntie!!

My brother Henrik and his wife Silvana had their baby Girl on Friday.

She was born 1:49 am, 49cm/19.25” long and weighed 2940gr/6.4lbs.

They live in Sweden so it will be awhile before I can pinch those little adorable cheeks!

    Happy Independence Day!!!

Christmas in May!!

Got a package from my Mom in Sweden on Saturday, feels like Christmas every time!

It was packed with all kinds of stuff!!

Hubby got a bunch of Hot Rods and Bike Magazines

 

Also in the package, Swedish mustard and sardines in tomato sauce, yum!! 

 

I got the wonderful book about a cafe in Sweden and it includes their best recipes, too!!

If you ever go the Småland, Sweden is this cafe on the must visit list!!

I also got a whole bunch of Home Magazines packed with great ideas and reportages from Swedish homes, always fun to read!

A big bag full of delicious salt & sweet licorice!!

My Mom always include some linen for me, this time a wonderful pink and red roses tablecloth, a large Christmas tablecloth and a couple of really neat wall-hangings  love it all!!

 

On Sunday did we decide to revive our El Camino, that we have had parked for the last couple of years. 

It started more or less right away!!

It was so happy to be running and be out in the free again!!

Thomas cleaned it up really nice, he will give it a good polish and it will be back in business again.

Meanwhile Thomas was working on the El Camino, did I weed some planters and planted some flowers, love the red Gerbera Daisies, I hope they will last in the heat!
